Marwell - Abduction pants with an orthopaedic lining

What should every mother
be aware of?

The hip joints of a newborn consist mostly of plastic and malleable cartilage, which is gradually replaced by bony tissue during development. One of the most important factors in the early phase of such development is the correct positioning of each part of the joint, i.e. the cartilage base of the head of the femur and cartilage and bony parts of the acetabulum of the hip joint within the pelvis.

Although a mother may leave the maternity clinic with a newborn that was not diagnosed as suffering from any significant pathology, it often happens that upon the next follow-up examination, the finding is not completely all right. There is mutual consensus that traditional wide swaddling using cotton pants enables the positioning of the baby's legs into the desirable and required abduction for correct development of the hip joint. This requires considerable time for washing and ironing of a considerable quantity of cotton nappies and therefore mothers often neglect this recommendation – disposable paper nappies are not sufficient, however.

For the optimal positioning of the hips and correct development of hip joints in newborns, we recommend to all mothers a new quality aid with verified efficiency – "MARWELL abduction pants with an orthopaedic lining". It is a corrective abduction bandage, which fully replaces the current way of wide swaddling using three cotton nappies and compared with current aids on the market, it has a significantly smaller volume of abduction swaddling. It need not be used only for treatment of greater pathology, but also for borderline findings and it can also be used as a preventive aid for the correct development of children’s hip joints.

Finally a few recommendations of skilled orthopaedic surgeons:
"... Abduction positioning is appropriate in the early infant period for the correct development of hip joints even in the case of completely favourable clinical and ultrasound findings..."
